Every January, I have a re-upping moment in my homeschooling. This is my 15th year homeschooling, and for me, re-upping is a very seasonal thing. I find myself regrouping at the end of January and then again at the end of July as we start to envision our Fall learning.

Although every re-upping yields different results. I'm really pleased this year how we structured our rhythm. My son and I both struggle with motivation in the dark and cold of winter but we are energizer bunnies in the Summer. So this year we made an agreement to do extra "academic" subjects in the summer when we used to take the summer off, and we are now taking January and February as our "summer break". We are spending the time reading, watching movies, and we signed up for Brave Writer classes to keep some fun structure in our week.

I appreciate this so much. I have noticed in our community that as kids get older, parents begin to panic. It is difficult to be around and negatively affects the Bravewriteresque culture that we are working to create. Thank you for these important reminders.

Thank you thank you! I want to be BRAVE. I am definitely a task master at times when we lose focus or I think we should be doing more. I am constantly playing the soundtrack: comparison is the thief of joy! I am not a writer, but I love words and stories. I’m so excited to embark on this journey with my kiddos.

I’m at this point now! Being driven by his getting older and the approach of exam age 😱
