I feel like my girls are too young to be able to write this- do you think a verbal debate would have value in supporting their writing in this category ?

I would add that my book Help! My Kid Hates Writing will help you understand how to take the steps from jotting down all the way to your child writing on their own.

It’s totally fine to have your child dictate to you while you jot it down. That is the first step in writing and there’s no reason to require your child to use the pen or pencil for a topic that is beyond their handwriting skill.

My youngest spoke aloud their reasons while I dictated for half of our Free Write timer, then they used their own pencil to write all the words they could think of to describe socks. I felt like that was a good challenge because I def remember having to write about things I didn’t care about as a high schooler 🤣

Yes!😍 Give them their voice. My daughter and I did this debate with my husband as the moderator and notetaker. Such a fun activity. Now she’s gonna want to debate everything. Lol. Nothing new about that😆

I wondered if this might be related to the Great Sock Debate in our home which is around wearing socks to bed! 😂 there are very strong opinions about that here! I did recently read in The Times that wearing socks to sleep helps people fall asleep!

I almost always where big, loose fuzzy socks to bed because I fall asleep quicker when I do!

I read that that is scientifically shown to be true. It has something to do with vasodilation and lowering core body temperature! I also read it makes couples more amorous! 🤷‍♀️ who would’ve guessed that? lol
