We listened to all three episodes this afternoon and my ten year old said “I like this podcast, I like how that lady thinks, it’s like she’s in my head!”

“It’s like she’s in my head” is the greatest compliment I’ve received from a kid!

My 9yo is starting book 6 of the Wings of Fire series while wrapping up the last of the Paddington books (we can't wait to see the movie soon too!). She's also reading a massive graphic novel called Korgi as a book club with our neighbors and the Turtle of Oman (in preparation for next dart, its sequel). We just started our current dart The One and Only Ivan. I'm having the best time watching her juggle these books and interests and getting to hear many of them myself.

She sounds like she’s doing great! Wings of fire is such a popular series

My severely dyslexic kid said “oh no. Not doing that” when he saw the topic… after listening to the podcast he’s reading quietly with a timer. (It’s way past his stretch goal of 2 minutes.) Thank you for adding a bit of magic back in, Julie!

My son is absolutely LOVING these Monday morning podcasts! He never would have gone for this reading challenge if I was the one to suggest it, but since it’s Julie’s idea it must be good! 😅 He chose getting Graeter’s ice cream as this week’s reward if he meets his reading goals. Thanks so much for empowering our kids!

My 12 year old son is reading Sweep. I read it last year and just loved it and was hoping he would too. He doesn’t always want to pick it up but every time he does he’ll come to me after “mom guess what happened…..” and can’t wait to talk about it.

Wow, we loved the way you set the week up. I could feel myself reacting a little bit to the rhythm you laid out (like come on Julie, that’s not enough!), while simultaneously appreciating its brilliance. This feels like an attainable goal that they’ll build on in a really fun way. My kids were happily surprised by this challenge! Turns out you’re able to get kids excited about sustained concentration😆🙌🏼

My newly 7 year old is reading Xander and the Rainbow Barfing Unicorn series. She’s on the 5th book.

Don’t you love when they get involved in a series? It’s so satisfying. My kids were very much into reading all the Redwall books and there are so many.

Yes! Although the Magic Tree House series didn’t keep her interest, we’ve read a few randomly out of order. 😂 She loved all the Ramona Quimby, and then, Henry Higgins books. That was very nostalgic for me. Another good series is Zoey and Sassafras. We’ve read the first 6 of those. I recently saw there are more now.

Breaking a reading record may be difficult for my bookworm child (we read for almost 70 minutes to find our base and only had to stop because we ran out of time- so we still don’t know her base yet!). But I have been wanting to make sure we do more quiet deep reading together (side by side with our own books), and this was the perfect nudge to make the time!
