"I don't have time for interests"

How can you homeschool your kids and still have interests of your own?

I answered the following question in 2004 on a discussion board while I was in the middle of the muddle of figuring out homeschooling and unschooling. This is the 3rd in a series of journal entries and writings from when I was actively homeschooling (for paid subscribers).

This is probably a big reason why I was so conflicted when I hear unschoolers say, "Make sure you do things that interest you too" and I think, "But there's no TIME!" This was a huge issue for me, because it felt like incredible pressure. Take care of all these kids' needs AND make sure you do something interesting yourself too.

Perhaps this idea is also miscommunicated.
