33 Monday Morning Meeting: Houses and Personalities

Take a walk and get to know your neighbors through their houses!

This week, you and your kids get to take a walk through the neighborhood to determine what kind of personality the houses have. We’re using the four humors defined by Ancient Greeks in 460-370 BCE.

Those humors are:

  1. Sanguine (extroverted)

  2. Choleric (extroverted)

  3. Melancholic (introverted)

  4. Phlegmatic (introverted)

Your task is to help your kids use their imaginations to assign personality properties to the house based on their observations. This is a playful exercise and two children may define the same house in different ways. The main goal is to explore ideas and possible justifications for the choices they make.

When you get home, you may want to try freewriting a bit about one of the houses, pretending that the house is animate—can talk, can interact—based on its personality.

Enjoy!
